When Ron Kalp, then an employee of the Chicago office of PR firm Ketchum, called the name of one of the candidates, two women stood up. Culp says he was confused until the younger one introduced herself, and then introduced her mother. Mom also asked for an interview, because her daughter is very timid and may forget something. Carol Cochran (now HR Director of FlexJobs recruiting platform) once worked in a startup founded by two young entrepreneurs. At the end of the interview with one woman, she asked if she had any questions. “Just one,” the woman replied. “Here is that co-owner - is he married?” Cochran replied that yes, and wondered why to know. “He's so cool!” The woman replied. Now all that was left was to tell the boss's wife!

They walked past the office kitchen, the candidate stopped and asked if it was possible to try some of the food. 8. Can I have lunch while we talk?

Five minutes after the start, she said: “I'm sure this is not a problem, but do you mind if I have lunch while we speak?
